Reverend Stephen J. Delaine

Leader of the Flock

Reverend Stephen Delaine has been inspiring the Linden-Shorts CME Church community since joining our congregation. Considered to be the most distinguished figure in our Church, he is committed to providing members of the congregation with religious guidance.

Rev. Delaine is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and is married to the former Cassandra M. Jones of Jackson, TN with whom he fathers two sons, Adrian and Myles Delaine. 


He has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Lane College (Jackson, TN), Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree at the Theological School of Drew University (Madison, NJ), and received a certificate of Administration and Management from the Institute of Church Administration and Management (ICAM) at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) (Atlanta, GA).


He began his ministry at the Metropolitan C.M.E. Church (Cincinnati, OH) where he was ordained as a deacon, elder, and admitted into the full connection of the church through the Ohio-Central Indiana Annual Conference.


He has also served as student minister at Mother Liberty C.M.E. Church (Jackson, TN), student assistant at Williams Institutional C.M.E. Church (New York, NY), and pastored Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church (Springfield, OH), Parkwood C.M.E. Church (Cleveland, OH), West Side Community C.M.E. Church (Atlanta, GA), Trinity C.M.E. Church (Augusta, GA), College Park C.M.E. Church (College Park, GA), and currently Linden-Shorts C.M.E. Church (Atlanta, GA).


Has served as an officer and member of several denominational and ecumenical ministerial alliances, community action groups and is a member of the Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is also a member of the Atlanta Unit of the National Association of Parliamentarians.


He has facilitated classes within the various levels of the denomination and has served as an instructor for the Certificate of Theology Program, College Park CME Church Site, of the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC).

He is a member of the Georgia, North Regional Conference and the Atlanta-Rome District. He has served as the Statistician in the Ohio-Central Indiana Conference and the Georgia, North Region. He formerly served the Georgia, North Region as a member of the Committee on Ministerial Examination.

He is a firm believer in Matthew 6:33, that God will provide as we seek him first in our lives.
